Dermal Filler Pre/Post Care

General Recommendations For Dermal Fillers:
● Avoid fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or allergic to any
ingredients.
● If you have a history of cold sores, there is a risk that needle pricks could
activate a recurrence of cold sores. Please advise your practitioner if you
are prone to cold sores or herpes simplex infections so she can prescribe an
oral medication called Valtrex to be started prior to your appointment.
● Avoid dental procedures or cleanings 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after filler
injections.
● Avoid CoVax or other vaccinations 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after a filler
treatment.
● Please notify us in advance of your appointment if you have an active
infection (such as dental infection, ear infection, sinusitis, urinary tract
infection)
● Please be sure to share with us your current medications and supplements,
and history of allergies
● We need to know about your previous cosmetic treatments and surgeries.
● Tell us if you are on immunosuppressive medication.
Pre-Care Tips To Follow For Your Filler Appointment:
Follow this guideline BEFORE each treatment
One week before your filler appointment:
● Avoid Aspirin (ASA, baby aspirin), Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Ibuprofen
● Avoid supplements including Omega 3 (fish oil capsules, flaxseed oil, chia,
and hemp seeds), Vitamin E, Ginkgo biloba, garlic, ginseng, ginger, St
John’s wort
● Avoid alcoholic beverages 24-48 hrs prior to your treatment
● Avoid Green tea (herbal and black tea are fine)
● If you need pain medication in the week before your filler treatment, use
Tylenol (acetaminophen) if possible
48 Hours Prior To Your Filler Appointment:
● Stop anti-aging skincare products containing Tretinoin (Retin-A, Steivaa),
Retinol, Retinoid, Glycolic Acid, or other exfoliating agents ( clients varies)
● Do not shave, wax, thread, pluck or use depilatory cream on the area to be
treated
● If you are prone to bruising consider taking Arnica or eating fresh
pineapple (contains bromelain which may reduce bruising)
Day of Treatment
● Arrive with your face washed, and without makeup
● A topical numbing cream may be applied for your comfort
● Please have something to eat and drink prior to arriving so you are not on
an empty stomach
● Relax! We’ve got you covered!
Post-Care Instructions After Your Filler Appointment:
Follow this guideline AFTER each treatment
● In general, dermal filler is easy to tolerate.
● Do not rub, touch, wash or massage the treated area for 4 hours
● Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after filler injections, as it can trigger
bruising
● Avoid blood thinners and alcoholic beverages for 24-48 hours after
treatment to avoid bruising
● Avoid intense heat the day of treatment, including hot yoga, hot tubs,
tanning, facials, or a massage the day of your filler treatment
● Sunscreen and makeup may be gently applied 4-6 hrs following injections
● You may have some redness or swelling the day of your procedure
● You may have some firmness (depending on the product used and the
area injected). Remember, the filler is like an implant made of jelly. The
firmness typically resolves in 2 weeks. Some asymmetries are possible after
injection which is due to the tissue swelling .
Please Notify Us If:
● You have severe or increasing pain, increasing redness or hot to touch in
the treatment area.
● You have blanching in the treated area
● You have blotchy discoloration away from the injected areas
● You have fever or chills

immediate assistance.

Laser Hair Removal Pre/Post Care

Pre-Care Tips To Follow For Your Laser Appointment:
Follow this guideline BEFORE each treatment
SHAVING
● Please shave the area desired for treatment 1 day before with the grain (in
the direction your hair naturally grows).
● For bikini laser hair removal, do not shave the areas you would like hair to
remain.
● No waxing, tweezing, or threading at least 1 week prior to laser treatment
(only shaving with the grain).
SUN EXPOSURE
● The area being treated cannot be exposed to the sun.
● For 1064-nm wavelength treatments, avoid sun exposure for 1 week prior,
during, and 1 week after treatment.
● For 755-nm wavelength treatment, avoid sun exposure for at least 4 weeks
prior, during, and at least 1 week after treatment.
● If you are unsure of your wavelength category, please avoid the sun for 4
weeks. One of our clinicians will execute a thorough examination of your
skin type and provide you with your wavelength category for future
reference.
● A broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sun block of SPF 30 or higher should be
applied whenever exposed to the sun.
EXTERNAL TREATMENTS
● No harsh chemical peels, chemical exfoliants, or harsh physical exfoliants
on the area 1 week before treatment.
● Avoid fillers (natural & synthetic) including hyaluronic acid, Juvederm,
collagen etc.. 4 to 6 weeks prior to receiving treatment.
● No tanning beds, lotions or self tanning 2 weeks prior to laser treatment.
● No lotions, creams, makeup, deodorant, perfumes, body spray, or serums
before you attend your laser treatment. Ensure the area is clean for
treatment.
MEDICATION
● Accutane should be discontinued 1 month before treatment.
● Blood thinning medications & topicals (ex, Retinol) should be discontinued
1 week before laser treatment.
PREGNANCY & MENSTRUATION
● If the patient is pregnant, or planning to become pregnant within the next
2 months, please avoid any form of laser therapy for yourself and your
baby’s well being.
● Bikini & Brazilian treatments will not be performed on patients during
menstruation.
Expectations Following Treatment:
Immediately following treatment, the area may show a slight erythema with
some swelling of each hair follicle. This is completely normal, and may last up to
2 hours. The area treated may feel sunburnt for a few hours after laser treatment.
Aloe vera gel may be used to soothe the area.
Post-Care Instructions:
Follow this guideline AFTER each treatment
● Avoid sun exposure to the area to reduce the chances of adapting
hyperpigmentation.
● Use a broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sun block of SPF 30 or higher whenever
exposed to the sun.
● Do not pick or scratch the treated area. Do not attempt to eliminate hair in
between treatments to leave the hair follicle undisturbed (only shave with
the grain if absolutely necessary).
● Hair shedding may occur between 3-14 days after laser treatment. This is
not new hair growth. This is the lasered hair falling out, as the hair follicle
was targeted. You may use a wet cloth or loofah to gently cleanse and wipe
the area.
● After underarm treatments, powder may be substituted for deodorant for
24 hours to reduce irritation, if you wish.
● Bathing is not restricted, but please try to treat the area gently (as if
sunburnt).
● You may resume the use of lotions, creams, deodorants, perfumes, and
serums 8 hours after treatment.
● Makeup may be worn 30 minutes after treatment, if there is no swelling or
irritation occurring.
● The area may scab, crust, bruise, or break out in a rash. Please note that all
of these symptoms are normal as a high volume of heat is being applied to
the skin barrier.
● You may take over the counter pain medication if necessary.
● You may use a soothing ointment such as aloe vera gel to calm the treated
area.
● You may use arnica gel for possible bruising. Patients with allergies to aloe
vera and/or arnica gel may use pure vitamin E and/or vitamin K.
Please ensure this guideline is carefully followed for optimal results. For any
questions or uncertainties, please do not hesitate to contact our office for
immediate assistance.

Botox Pre/Post Care

Pre-Care Tips To Follow For Your Appointment:
Follow this guideline BEFORE each treatment
● Do NOT drink alcohol 1 week prior to treatment.
● NO anti-inflammatory medication the week of treatment.
● Use arnica tablets a week before injections to aid with bruising. This is
recommended, but not required.
Post-Care Instructions:
Follow this guideline AFTER each treatment
● Do NOT massage or apply pressure on the treated area for 6-8hrs after
treatment since Botox may migrate to areas of undesirable effectiveness.
● Do NOT lie down for 6 hours after treatment. Also Do NOT lean forward,
shower, cook over a hot stove.
● You MUST keep your head UPRIGHT for at least 6 hrs after injection.
● Avoid yoga or other rigorous exercise activities, extensive sun or heat
exposure, and alcoholic beverages for the 1st 24 hours after treatment. This
may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the sites of the
injection.
● Avoid facials and saunas for 24 hours after treatment since this will
decrease the chance of your blood pressure rising and thus decrease the
chance of minor and temporary bruising.
● Headaches are common. Botox is even used to treat headaches. However, if
you have a headache we recommend you avoid aspirin or aspirin
containing products. You may opt instead to use Motrin, Tylenol, and/or
cool compresses. If headaches continue or worsen, contact your physician.
● Avoid taking Advil, Vitamin E, Ginger, Ginkgo Biloba, Ginseng, and Garlic for
2 weeks since this may increase the risk of bruising.
● Note that any bumps or marks will go away within a few hours. If you do
develop a bruise it will resolve like other bruises you have had in about a
week. There is occasionally some mild pain, swelling, itching, or redness at
the site of injection similar to most other injections. Redness may last for 1-2
days, rarely longer. You may apply cold compresses or acetaminophen
(Tylenol) to reduce swelling or discomfort.
● Results of your treatment may take up to 14 days to take full effect
although many people will recognize the benefits in 3-5 days after
treatment.
● Botox Cosmetic® is a temporary procedure. In most people the benefits of
Botox last about 6 months. Sometimes a few wrinkles may start to return in
2-3months. The effectiveness of Botox will last longer with successive
treatments.
● Initially, the physician may want to see the patient between 2-4 weeks for a
brief “touch-up” and checkup of the procedure. If you allow Botox
Cosmetic® to completely wear off, it is difficult for the doctor to be able to
see how your individual muscles reacted and therefore optimal results for
your face can be more difficult to achieve.
● You may shower and do most other regular daily activities.
● Makeup: It is recommended that you wait 12 hours after the treatment
before applying make-up.
● Cold compresses may be used 10 minutes on 10 minutes off to reduce
swelling 2-3x per day during the 1st 1-2 days if needed.
Please ensure this guideline is carefully followed for optimal results. For any
questions or uncertainties, please do not hesitate to contact our office for
immediate assistance.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you!
